VIRGIL TOWNSHIP – An Aurora man was charged with driving under the influence among other charges in connection with a crash involving a motorcycle late Friday, police said.
Nicholas D. Jones, 33, of the 1700 block of Felton Road, Aurora, also was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, operating an uninsured vehicle and possession of more than 2.5 up to 10 grams of marijuana.
According to court records, Jones posted $300 bond or 10 percent of $3,000 bail. His next court date is Oct. 18.
According to Kane County Sheriff's reports, Jones was driving a Chevrolet Cavalier when his vehicle rear-ended a motorcycle as they were heading on Route 38 between the bridge and Meredith Road about 11:30 p.m. Friday, sheriff's spokesman Lt. Pat Gengler said in an email.
The driver of a Honda motorcycle, Ronald Busch, 39, of DeKalb, was transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva. According to a hospital spokesman, Busch is not a patient at the hospital.
According to court records, Jones was charged by Aurora police on May 30 for illegal transportation of liquor, disregarding a stop sign and possession of less than 2.5 grams of marijuana.
Jones paid a $735 fine and received a conditional discharge, requiring him to complete 30 hours of community service by Dec. 30 and be under 11 months of court supervision, court records show.
