Police: Repeat DUI offender charged with drunken driving in St. Charles

ST. CHARLES – An Elgin woman with a history of impaired driving was charged Sunday with DUI in St. Charles, according to St. Charles Police Department reports.

Corina Mendenhall, 38, of the 300 block of St. Charles Road, Elgin, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving without insurance, speeding and three felony counts of aggravated DUI.

Mendenhall, who was driving a 1998 Nissan Altima, was pulled over at about 3:40 a.m., according to reports. Police reportedly clocked her going 51 mph in the 800 block of West Main Street, a 30 mph zone.

Mendenhall told police she was out with friends and had three beers, police reported, noting there were two open beer bottles in the vehicle.

After Mendenhall failed field sobriety tests, police reportedly released her three passengers without charges and had the car towed.

According to the report, Tri-Com Central Dispatch told police Mendenhall's driving privileges were revoked. Additionally, police reported, her driving abstract showed she had six prior convictions of driving with a suspended or revoked license and two prior convictions of DUI.

Mendenhall is expected in court Oct. 11, police reported. The report indicated she was being held in the Kane County jail because she couldn't post bond.
