Orchard Road construction delayed by rain

AURORA – The scheduled closure of portions of Orchard Road in Aurora that were to take place today has been postponed until Monday because of the rain that has moved into the area.

Aurora Police will now close the southbound lanes of Orchard between Prairie Street and Jericho Road from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, while the northbound lanes between Jericho and Aucutt roads will be closed from 11 a.m. to noon.

The closures are needed so Aurora Police traffic investigators can continue their investigation into a serious crash at Orchard and Jericho that occurred on Sept. 28 involving a motorcycle and SUV. The 21-year-old motorcyclist, Michael A. Bradley, of the 100 block of Franklin Ave., Aurora, sustained serious injuries when he collided with the SUV driven by Mary C. Betz, 42, of the 1800 block of Cambridge Lane, Montgomery.

As investigators from the Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Division were working at the scene Saturday, a strong storm rolled in forcing them to postpone the investigation.
