ST. CHARLES – Visitors to downtown St. Charles on Saturday had the chance to meet Evelyn Sanguinetti, the running mate of Republican governor candidate Bruce Rauner.

Sanguinetti, along with State Senator Karen McConnaughay and others, spoke with people on Fourth Street near Lincoln Park, where Scarecrow Fest activities were held.

A Wheaton City Council member, Sanguinetti is a practicing attorney and adjunct professor at the John Marshall Law School.

This is her first foray into state politics.

"And I'm all pumped up," Sanguinetti said.

In addition to appearing in St. Charles, the lieutenant governor candidate on Saturday planned to attend a campaign event in Wheaton and then visit Waukegan.

"We're very excited," she said. "I'm dying to meet many more people."

The Republican primary is in March 2014.
