In Focus: Fun in the hay

One of my favorite things to photograph during the annual Scarecrow Festival in downtown St. Charles is the make-your-own scarecrow area. Festivalgoers get a chance to stuff their own man, woman or baby scarecrow with hay using donated clothing.

So, last Friday, after walking a few laps around Lincoln Park and getting a good look at a lot of the pre-made scarecrows on display, I headed over to the First State Bank Kids Zone area on First Street. That was where I noticed 3-year-old twins Bode and Georgia Smith of St. Charles having an absolute blast rolling around in the hay, knocking each other over in it and laughing their heads off. It was awesome. Simple, fall fun. The way it should be.
