New restaurants set for West Towne Market in St. Charles

ST. CHARLES – Upon viewing a storefront at West Towne Market in St. Charles, Giuseppe and Rosalia Imperiale knew that’s where they wanted to open their new pizzeria.

“We belong here,” Rosalia Imperiale said about how they felt.

Pomodoro E Mozzarella is the first of three new eateries to open in West Towne Market, a shopping center on West Main Street just east of Randall Road.

Macarena Tapas, a Spanish tapas restaurant, and Muscle Maker Grill, a fast-casual restaurant, are preparing to open.

“I feel like they’re all good, quality operators,” said Ryan Corcoran of Corcoran Commercial Real Estate. “All three should do very well.”

This will be Muscle Maker Grill’s third Illinois location.

The New Jersey-based restaurant offers high-protein, low-calorie menu options, as well as vegetarian dishes and gluten-free items, said Jose Venegas, co-owner of the St. Charles store.

“Our motto is great food with your health in mind,” he said.

Venegas, who has worked at the Rolling Meadows location, said St. Charles seemed like a perfect candidate for Muscle Maker Grill.

“I’m just really excited to bring this concept to St. Charles,” he said, noting he hopes to open in early November.

Macarena Tapas is taking over a space reduced from about 5,000 square feet to about 3,400 square feet.

According to Corcoran Commercial Real Estate, the smaller size more appropriately fits the restaurant’s business model.

“They’ve been very successful in Naperville,” Cocoran said.

Pomodoro E Mozzarella added a kitchen to the former Sarpino’s Pizzeria space. Using fresh ingredients, the family-run operation offers such made-to-order Italian fare as pizza, paninis, pasta and tiramisu for delivery, carryout and catering.

Giuseppe Imperiale, who grew up on the island of Sicily and immigrated to the United States at age 12, said he opened the store after a long break from the pizza business.

“My husband loves to cook,” Rosalia Imperiale said.
