Eventful Week 8 of prep football

Wow, down goes Kaneland.

Gotta give Sycamore massive props for doing what no team in Northern Illinois Big 12 East history has been able to in four years, beat the Knights.

This one's got to sting for Kaneland, but only a fool would count them out after one loss against an excellent Sycamore team. Who knows … playoff rematch?

Batavia beating East was no surprise, but to running-clock them in the first half? These Bulldogs seem to be hitting another gear by the week, and are going to be a very fun team to watch come playoff time.

The Saints have some soul-searching to do, and better look out against Larkin next week or risk falling to 5-4 after that 0-3 start. Time for East's character guys to make their presence felt.

Nice W for Geneva at Metea Valley, and the Vikings even were kind enough to help St. Charles North's playoff point cause with the victory. Geneva's offense is worthy of a deep playoff run. The defense? We shall see.

And how about the ACC Chargers, able to do something that Marian Central, Aurora Christian and Marmion couldn't – beat Marmion.

It's the most impressive win to date for ACC under coach Brian Casey, and after years of futility, maybe the Chargers are starting a different kinda streak with two straight playoff trips.
