Gresey: Getting your local news on the go

Published: Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 5:32 a.m. CDT

Away from home, but have some time to kill? Eager to catch up on the latest Kane County news?

If you have a smartphone, you’re in luck.

The Kane County Chronicle recently launched its revamped mobile platform.

You can access the platform by visiting www.kcchronicle.com on your mobile device.

Once the site loads, you’ll see news presented in a way that differs from the regular Chronicle website – it’s formatted specifically for smartphones.

I was really excited about this change to our mobile platform once I saw it.

Now, the platform is more engaging. The home page features photos, as well as top headlines with the first few sentences of each story, which makes it easier to pinpoint the articles you’d like to read more of.

And, if you didn’t know it already, the Chronicle’s mobile platform is a great way to catch up on breaking news throughout the day, as our editorial team makes it a point to post news there when a car accident occurs, a fire takes place or another major news event happens.

Statistics show that more and more people are consuming news via their smartphones. Our new mobile platform just makes it easier for readers to consume the news they want.

And, for those old-school folks out there, fear not.

If you enjoy looking at the traditional Kane County Chronicle website – the one you’d see on your home computer, for example – you still can do that on our mobile platform.

Just tap the “View Classic Mode” option at the bottom of the mobile platform home page.
