Geneva launches new online utility bill payment system

GENEVA – Geneva has launched a new online utility bill payment system that gives customers additional options regarding their accounts, the city said Friday in a news release.

The new software platform lets customers sign up for e-bill services, which will send an email alert indicating their bills are ready to be viewed online. Customers then can visit the city’s website, www.geneva.il.us, and click the “Online Bill Pay” link.

Once logged onto the site, customers can access their billing history, consumption and usage history and pay by credit card. The only difference customers should notice about their account is a change from a 12-digit account number to a 13-digit account number.

Customers using online bill payment from their bank’s website need to update their account numbers so payments can be applied correctly.

Geneva will offer budget billing once testing is complete. Participating customers can pay a set amount over each month during the course of a 12-month period to avoid large spikes in the summer or winter months.

Call the city’s Finance Division at 630-232-0854 for information or to report problems.
