VIRGIL TOWNSHIP – One person died Sunday following a two-car accident west of Elburn along Route 38, the Kane County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Initial investigation showed a 2012 Ford Focus traveling east on Route 38 west of Meredith Road crossed the center line for an unknown reason at about 12:30 p.m., striking a 2007 BMW SUV traveling west, police said.
The driver and sole occupant of the Ford, Kelly Morsch, 23, of Hinckley, was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver, Christopher Mctee, 40, of Schaumburg, was flown to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, police said, noting his injuries do not appear to be life threatening. The passenger, Lisa Mctee, 32, of Schaumburg, was taken by ambulance to Delnor Hospital in Geneva with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Route 38 between Meredith and Watson roads was closed for about four hours while authorities investigated the crash, police said.
Kane County sheriff's detectives and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are conducting the investigation.
No tickets have been issued, police said.
