Indiana recruit and Chronicle Boys Golfer of the Year finished as 2A state runner-up after winning ACC Regional and tying for second at Freeport Sectional.
Laid-back Knights veteran calmly carded a 1-over-par 72 on the second day of the 2A state meet, charging to a fifth-place tie among individuals. Shot a 67 at regionals to finish one stroke behind the winner, Weber.

In her penultimate season guiding the boys and girls programs, the good-natured Twenhafel watched the BC boys break through for a fourth-place team finish at the Class 2A state meet at Illinois State’s Weibring Golf Club in Normal. “It’s kind of bittersweet,” Twenhafel said. “The golf season is fast and furious, I tell you what, and by the end of the season it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, can I actually sleep on a Saturday morning?’ ” Four members of the state series team will return in 2014.
