Sugar Grove police reports

• A man, 50, of the 700 block of Pembridge Place, Sugar Grove, told police Friday, Oct. 18, that someone had burglarized his vehicle, taking an iPad. The incident is believed to have occurred during the overnight hours of Oct. 17 when witnesses told police they saw two people, dressed in black hooded sweatshirts, fleeing from the man’s house on foot.

• A man, 46, of the 700 block of Pembridge Place, Sugar Grove, told police Friday, Oct. 18, that someone had burglarized his vehicle, taking only a set of keys. Police believe the incident may have occurred during the overnight hours of Thursday, Oct. 17.

• A man, 35, of the 700 block of Queensgate Circle, Sugar Grove, told police on Saturday, Oct. 19, that someone had burglarized his vehicle, likely during the overnight hours of Thursday, Oct. 17. The man said a set of tools was missing from his trunk and a speaker in the trunk had been damaged.

• A woman, 55, of the 200 block of Whitfield Drive, Sugar Grove, told police Sunday, Oct. 20, that someone had broken a footstool she kept on her front porch.

• A woman, 49, of the 100 block of Arbor Drive, Sugar Grove, told police Tuesday, Oct. 22, that she believed she had been the victim of a home repair scam. She said a contractor assessed her home for hail damage following a July storm. When she involved her insurance company, representatives of the insurer told her the damage to her home’s siding had been inflicted by “mechanical means,” rather than natural causes. She told police she believed the contractor had damaged her siding, resulting in the need for $13,000 to $17,000 in repairs.

• Jeffrey Ottersen, 33, of the 200 block of Woodland Drive, Round Lake Beach, was arrested Friday, Oct. 25, on two Kane County warrants for failure to appear in court on charges of driving while license revoked and aggravated driving under the influence. 

• Justin Lane, 25, of the 2300 block of North Harlem Avenue, Elmwood Park, was charged Friday, Oct. 25, with possession of drug paraphernalia.

• A woman, 39, of the 1300 block of Slater Street, Sugar Grove, told police Saturday, Oct. 26, that someone had burglarized her vehicle, taking cash and three iPads, including some that belonged to a business. She believed the incident occurred around 9 a.m. Oct. 26.
