GENEVA – Geneva School District 304 has been awarded the SchoolSearch Bright A+ Award for academic excellence in education, according to a news release issued by the district.
The award is given to districts in which students’ academic performance ranks in the top 5 percent of Illinois districts based on the 2012 Illinois School Report Cards. Geneva is one of 60 school districts in Illinois to be recognized.
There are 866 school districts in Illinois.
The Geneva school district has received this award annually since 2007, the release stated.
“We are very pleased to again receive this recognition,” Superintendent Kent Mutchler said in the release. “This award reflects high expectations and the importance of quality staff doing excellent work and caring parents working together to help all of our students succeed.”
SchoolSearch is an educational research and consulting firm that publishes online rankings of school systems to assist relocating families.
This spring, the district also received from SchoolSearch the 2013 Bright Red Apple Award of Excellence.
This award is given to school districts based on academic performance, pupil/teacher ratio, expenditure per pupil, educational level of teachers and average teacher salary.
The district has received this award every year since 2005.
