Face Time with Ellie McLoone

St. Charles resident Ellie McLoone, 49, was at her store, Treasure Broker in St. Charles, when she answered 11 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.

Where did you grow up? La Crosse, Wis.

Pets? A black lab named La Buena Vida – Beautiful Life in Spanish

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Sigourney Weaver in “Ghostbusters”

First job? At a drugstore

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to create and make things, and I do that. I was a teacher and then I was in sales and marketing for a while. Now I have the store – I’ll be open a year on Nov. 7.

What is a Treasure Broker? I find old things and salvage and repurpose them. I turned an old funnel into a lamp, an old Singer sewing machine into a cooling station with a wine rack underneath.

A movie you’d recommend? “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”

Favorite charity? St. Charles Moose Lodge 1368

What game show would you be on? “The Match Game”

Favorite local restaurant? Francesca’s by the River and Isacco Kitchen, both in St. Charles

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I saved two people using the Heimlich maneuver while I was waitressing in college, and I am friends with Greg LeMond. He married my neighbor Kathy.
