Local-business research hot topic at Denmark conference

William and Janis T. Page, husband and wife and partners at the St. Charles-based communication firm MediaWerks, traveled to Aarhus, Denmark, recently to present research findings at the Second International CSR Communication Conference.

The Pages interviewed owners and managers of a group of Fox Valley businesses to learn whether and how they practice corporate social responsibility or business performance of good deeds within society.

“We discovered these local businesses were extraordinarily generous, engaging in philanthropic donations, events and programs,” said William Page in a press release. “However they rarely if ever communicated these good works to their customers or to the community at large.”

The International CSR Communication Conference brought together professionals and academics from 23 different countries to discuss new research and topics, such as the benefits and methods of communicating social responsibility in relationship to company identity, employees and leadership; consumer and media relations; issues and reputation management; and social media.
