Police investigate armed robbery at St. Charles Subway

ST. CHARLES – The St. Charles Police Department is seeking information related to an armed robbery at a fast food restaurant Sunday evening, the department said Monday in a news release.

St. Charles police responded to Subway, 570 S. Randall Road, St. Charles, at about 5:25 p.m. for a reported armed robbery.

An employee was approached by a man who stated he had a gun – but did not display the weapon – and demanded money, police said.

The man fled in an unknown direction after he was given money, police said, noting he never threatened the employee's safety.

The responding officers checked the area but didn't find signs of the man, police said.

The man was described as having a disheveled appearance, wearing a red baseball hat, a blue denim long-sleeve button-up shirt, blue jeans and powder blue latex gloves, police said. He was reportedly about 60 years old, white, about 6-foot to 6-foot-1, 200 to 220 pounds and had gray hair and a short to medium beard.

A silver four-door SUV drove past the establishment soon after the incident, but it is unknown whether the vehicle was involved, police said.

The case is under investigation.

Those with information are asked to call the St. Charles Police Department Investigations Unit at 630-377-4435.
