BATAVIA – A second person has been charged in connection with a Nov. 1 party in Batavia in which juveniles were accused of underage drinking, according to a news release issued by the Batavia Police Department.

Scott Kelley, 40, of Montgomery, has been charged with hosting an unlawful residential gathering. Police said he is the boyfriend of Vanessa R. Fania, 40, of the 200 block of South Prairie Street in Batavia, who previously had been charged with hosting an unlawful residential gathering.

They both are set to appear at 9 a.m. Dec. 10 at Kane County Branch Court in St. Charles.

Batavia police responded to the 200 block of South Prairie Street at about 9:30 p.m. Nov. 1 for a reported underage drinking party.

Upon arrival, officers reported they saw several youths running away from the property. An investigation led police to a large underage gathering inside the home, police said. Police noted several people were in a detached garage, and a bonfire was in the backyard.

Twenty-one minors were charged with underage drinking. Police said they could not release the minors' names because they were younger than 18.
