Holmstad to host artist’s reception

BATAVIA – After a two-month exhibit, artist Lars-Birger Sponberg will greet guests at an Artist’s Closing Reception from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at The Holmstad Town Center Gallery, 700 W. Fabyan Parkway, Batavia.

The exhibit includes 10 oil paintings of Sponberg’s 20th-century interpretation of Jesus’ parables. It debuted at the American Bible Society in New York City in 1973.

In 1930, Sponberg immigrated to the U.S. from Sweden and attended the Art Institute in Chicago. He has exhibited in solo and group shows in Sweden, New York and the Chicago area.

The reception is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The gallery is open at The Holmstad from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays; and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sundays.
