Michael Angelo's deli in downtown Geneva closes

Published: Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

GENEVA – An eatery on the south end of the Dodson Place commercial property in downtown Geneva has closed.

Tom Rose, owner of Michael Angelo’s 3rd Street Deli, had until Thursday afternoon to clear out the remaining furnishings and product in the corner store at Third and South streets near the Metra station.

Speaking briefly because of his deadline, Rose on Thursday morning said declining business and higher rent contributed to the decision to close.

He said he had owned the deli for two years, but it was open several years before that.

The deli had been open daily and offered catering. Its menu included salads, soups, wraps, subs, grilled paninis and smoothies.
