Face Time with Bobbi Lebin

Geneva resident Bobbi Lebin, 69, was at the open house of the new Geneva Visitors Center, when she answered 10 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.  

Where did you grow up? Swan, Iowa

Pets? Two cats, Mona and Lisa.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Helen Mirren

First job? Typist at the Iowa State Fair in college.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A teacher. I became an English teacher. I taught for 33 years, 30 of them at Batavia High School.

A book you’d recommend? “Lord Jim” by Joseph Conrad. I did my doctoral thesis on it.

Favorite charity? American Red Cross

What game show would you be on? “Jeopardy”

Favorite local restaurant? The All-Chocolate Kitchen in Geneva

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? There were only about 100 people in the whole town, and we walked barefoot to school until winter. By high school, we wore shoes.
