Letter: God's guidelines not being followed

Published: Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

In the past few decades it has become obvious that the moral values of our country are seriously eroded. This is evident by the foul language and lurid scenes now on television and in the movies.

Now, at least 15 states have legalized homosexual/same sex marriages. In addition to many federal and state politicians, even many of our local officials are pleased that this bill has been passed. This seems to fit in with what the Bible says, “The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.” Or: “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men. ... What is highly valued among men is detestable in God’s sight.”

If you focus primarily on pleasing yourself, you are in rebellion against God. As a line in the hymn “Make me a Blessing” says, “Out of life may Jesus shine.”

Contrary to a recent letter in the Kane County Chronicle (Nov. 12, 2013), it is possible for others (and Christ!) to love and pray for homosexuals while still condemning their sin.

If our country continues in its wayward practices, it’s time to remove the phrase “under God” from our Pledge of Allegiance, as we are obviously not living under His guidelines.
