Izzie Bindseil, St. Charles East, Sr.

Helped pace the Saints’ eighth-place team finish at the state meet by competing in four finals. Finished fifth in the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.14) and eighth in the 200 free (1:52.59) before swimming as part of the 400 free relay (11th) and 200 free relay (12th).

Annie Gosselin, Rosary, So.

Gosselin recalls watching the Beads as an eighth grader when the state meet was last held at New Trier. Two years later, she proved a tremendous asset on deck, placing fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:05:05), eighth in the 100 backstroke (56.46) and swimming as part of Rosary’s seventh-place 200 medley relay.

Monica Guyett, St. Charles North, So.

Sparked the North Stars with an eighth-place state swim in the 500 freestyle. Her time of 4:57.80 topped her preliminary time by 1.01 seconds and was nearly 12 seconds better than her effort at sectionals.

Erin Hart, Rosary, Jr.

St. Charles resident played key role in steering Rosary from a 34th-place tie in 2012 to a ninth-place finish this season. Placed sixth in the 100 freestyle (23.76), 12th in the 100 freestyle (52.62) and was the anchor leg of the Beads’ 10th-place 200 free relay.

Shea Hoyt, St. Charles East, Sr.

The Kane County Chronicle Girls Swimmer of the Year kept the Saints loose en route to a solid swan song at state that included a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:03:07) and collaborations with the fifth-place 200 medley relay and 12th-place 200 freestyle relay. Will join good friend Bindseil at Iowa next season.

Jordan Morling, St. Charles East, So.

Opened a standout stretch run by taking part in four winning swims for the victorious Saints at the Upstate Eight Conference meet. At state, she placed fourth in the 100 backstroke (56.06), ninth in the 200 individual medley (2:06.58) and was part of the 200 medley relay (fifth) and 400 freestyle relay (11th).

Joe Cabel, St. Charles East

Cabel guided the Saints to the Upstate Eight Conference and St. Charles East Sectional title before presiding over a ninth-place finish at the state meet. “This was such a great bunch of girls. We had just a great time,” Cabel said. “That, to me, is what sports and what swimming and coaching are all about. … It was a season to remember, that’s for sure.”
