Christmas in Kaneville celebration coming up

KANEVILLE – The Christmas in Kaneville celebration is set from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, with events at Hill's Country Store – the Purple Store – at 2S133 Harter Road, and at the Kaneville Community Center, 2S101 Harter Road, Kaneville.

The Kaneville Township Historical Society is looking for residents to loan nativity sets for the event. Society members will set up the display at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6. For information, call Karen Flamand at 630-557-2854, or Lynette Werdin at 630-557-2202.

A community tree lighting will start at 8:30 a.m. Other events include a cookie walk fromm 9 to 11 a.m. at Kaneville United Methodist Church, 46W764 Main Street Road, Kaneville. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be a craft show and bake sale in the community center gym. Hill's Country Store will celebrate with free peppermint ice cream and raffles.

The Kaneville Public Library, housed at the community center, will have kids crafts and story time. The Kaneville Township Historical Society will open the 1840s historical Farley House for viewing, including manger displays and gifts for children. Old Second Bank, Kaneville branch, will have breakfast food and drinks, gifts for kids and raffles. A horse-drawn wagon will give visitors rides between points in the village.
