Driver accused of damaging yard in St. Charles, charged with DUI
ST. CHARLES – A 22-year-old who damaged property while driving Friday faces drunken driving charges, according to a St. Charles Police Department report.
Michael Francis Gruesen, of the 0-100 block of Stirrup Cup Court, St. Charles, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood-alcohol content of more than 0.08 percent and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Police responded to the 1300 block of Fox Chase Boulevard in St. Charles at about 10:53 p.m. for a report of a 2012 Honda Accord with major damage in a resident’s yard, police said, noting the horn wouldn’t shut off.
According to reports, the car was heading south on the 1000 block of Keim Trail when it left the road, hit a mailbox, hit a stop sign and hit the curb of Fox Chase Boulevard before coming to a stop in the yard.
The yard was reportedly torn up from the vehicle.
Gruesen had no obvious injuries, police reported. Gruesen was released on his own recognizance and is expected at the Kane County Judicial Center at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 26, police reported.
