In Focus: Home sweet newsroom

Published: Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

I visited with the staff of the Kaneland Krier – Kaneland High School’s student-run newspaper – late last week for a story we were working on about area school newspapers.

I was inspired by their passion and dedication.

They were very focused on their upcoming deadline and they seemed to know exactly what they were doing and what needed to be done to get the paper out on time.

I never worked on my high school newspaper – it was in college when I walked into the Ball State Daily News office, and I immediately felt like I was at home. The fast-paced environment and the constant motion drew me in, and I never looked back.

This is how I saw the Kaneland students and their newsroom – the student reporters, photographers and editors were definitely at home.
