PALOS HEIGHTS – Aurora Christian sophomore forward Natasha Brown averaged nearly 14 rebounds last girls basketball season while scoring about four points a game.

So far this season, both figures have been on the upswing. Brown had 10 points and 18 rebounds in Wednesday’s 45-33 victory at Chicago Christian, helping the Eagles improve to 6-3 and 2-0 in the Suburban Christian Conference Gold.

“Natasha hit the ground running from last year, no doubt about it,” Eagles coach Jerry Tokars said. “She’s not only rebounding, but she’s converting those as we’re working with her to develop an offensive game.”

Alyssa Andersen paced ACS with 18 points.

Cary-Grove 36, Kaneland 24: At Crystal Lake, Kaneland was unable to close the gap after falling behind, 30-0, after six matches.

The Knights’ winners included Justin Diddell (285 pounds), Austin Kedzie (106) and Adam Mish (113), who scored successive falls.

Streator 2,526, Kaneland 2,178: At Mardi Gras Lanes in DeKalb, Christie Crews rolled a 418 series to pace Kaneland in the Northern Illinois Big 12 match, while Dominique Lee followed with a 414.

Crews’ 176 in the first game was the Knights’ top individual game.
