ST. CHARLES – The Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St., St. Charles, will bring two classic holiday films to the silver screen this week.

"It's a Wonderful Life" will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, and Saturday, Dec. 21. The film tells the story of a compassionate but frustrated businessman who is helped by an angel by showing the businessman what life would have been like if he never existed. The Frank Capra classic stars Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed.

The Saturday showing of "It's a Wonderful Life" will include "special suprises" and "behind-the-scenes stories," according to the Arcada Theatre website.

"A Christmas Story" will be shown at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20. The film follows the life of lead character and narrator Ralphie, who is determined to ask Santa for a Red Ryder BB gun, as life in 1940s Cleveland, Ohio, presents typical boyhood challenges.

Tickets to "It's a Wonderful Life" cost $7 and tickets to "A Christmas Story" cost $5. Children ages 10 and younger will be admitted for free to all showings. Tickets can be purchased at the theater before the showing.
