A Toda Madre menu to mimic Bien Trucha's next year

GENEVA – In 2014, diners will be able to order off the same menu in two different local Mexican eateries.

Bien Trucha’s entire food and drink menu will be available at its neighboring sister restaurant A Toda Madre. Bien Trucha specializes in Mexico City’s street food and has a margarita and tequila bar.

The mimicking menu will take effect in January, but A Toda Madre’s seasonal menu, along with its full bar, will still be available.

“It’s incredible how many times people tell us that they haven’t tried Bien Trucha because of the long waiting list; because they don’t have the time during lunch to wait for a table or simply because we don’t take reservations," said owner Ricardo Garcia-Rubio in a recent news release. "... Many of them don’t even know the name of the restaurant and just referred to us as the place in Geneva with the long lines.”

In the release, Garcia-Rubio said that both concepts have been succesful, but they needed a way to accommodate the people who are discouraged by the long wait at Bien Trucha.

"This is the perfect solution and will also mean an even more exciting menu to come for our clientele,” he said in the release.

There also will be changes to Bien Trucha’s menu that will help Chef Gama Martinez to concentrate on improving a shared menu for both eateries, as well as seasonal specials at a toda madre, according to the release.

Bien Trucha will continue to operate under a first-come-first-served basis, while A Toda Madre will accept a limited number of reservations each night.

Bien Trucha and A Toda Madre are located at 410 W. State St. in downtown Geneva. Lunch hours 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. Dinner hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For reservations at A Toda Madre, call 630-845-3015 or visit
