Sugar Grove police reports

• Jose Cervantes-Lopez, 35, of the 7800 block of Latrobe Street, Burbank, was charged Wednesday, Nov. 27, with failure to obtain appropriate registration and driving while license revoked.

• A complaint was filed on Friday, Nov. 29, stating that someone had taken a chair and placed it beneath a bedroom window at a home in the 100 block of Snow Street in Sugar Grove. Police advised the homeowner to install a motion light or outdoor security camera.

• Police were contacted about a suspicious phone call on Friday, Nov. 29, to a resident in the 400 block of Brookhaven Circle in Sugar Grove. The male caller stated that the complainant had signed up for a bank loan and also stated that he was the complainant’s boyfriend. The complainant asked the male to stop calling and contacted police. Police noted that the male called the complainant about four times while police were on the scene.

• A volunteer with the Sugar Grove Park District reported criminal damage on Saturday, Nov. 30, to property at 30 S. Main St., Sugar Grove. Two aluminum park benches had been damaged within the past two days. They may have been damaged by skate wheels, according to police. The estimated damage was $50.

• Sugar Grove police cited three businesses on Sunday, Dec. 1, following a tobacco compliance check through the 2014 Kids Can’t Buy ‘Em Here program. Those cited include Teresa Quiroz at Citgo Gas Station, Wolfgang Augusten of Village Liquors and Nick Patel of the Sugar Grove Tobacco Shop. Each retailer sold a 15-year-old agent one pack of cigarettes, according to police. Warning letters were sent to non-compliant businesses and congratulatory letters were sent to three businesses that were in compliance.

• Police received a report on Monday, Dec. 2, from a victim stating that someone made fraudulent charges from his bank account. Purchases were made in Georgia, West Virginia and online, according to police.

• Copper piping was reported stolen sometime between Nov. 20 and Dec. 2 from a home in the 300 block of Snow Street, Sugar Grove. The estimated value of the theft was $500.

• A complainant reported to police on Wednesday, Dec. 4, that someone had broken into her home in the 1800 block of Fays Lane, Sugar Grove, on Aug. 16 while she was out of town and stole her wedding ring set. She approximated the replacement value at $7,000, according to police.

• A report of credit card fraud was filed on Saturday, Dec. 7, from a victim who said someone made unauthorized charges totaling about $150.

• Jason Atkins, 28, of the 48W200 block of Country Life Drive, Maple Park, was charged Monday, Dec. 9, with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and disobeying a traffic control signal.

• Police received a report of credit card fraud on Tuesday, Dec. 10, after a complainant said someone made unauthorized online purchases totaling $265 and $128.

• Rudolph Lang Jr., 69, of the 6N100 block of Woodview Lane, St. Charles, was charged Wednesday, Dec. 18, with driving while license suspended and driving 55 mph in a 40 mph zone.
