Carpentersville firefighter faces battery charges in St. Charles Township incident

ST. CHARLES – A part-time Carpentersville Fire Department firefighter and paramedic has pending misdemeanor battery charges in Kane County stemming from a physical altercation with an unnamed woman.

Jason S. Elders, 39, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday in St. Charles Township.

Witnesses told police Elders got on top of the 37-year-old woman and punched her in the face several times, Kane County Sheriff’s Lt. Pat Gengler said. According to the police report, family and friends pulled Elders off the woman.

The incident is alleged to have occurred in the driveway of a home near where Elders had been attending a Christmas party earlier that night.

The woman was transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva for injuries that were not life threatening.

The battalion chief on duty at the fire department late Monday afternoon said he could not comment on the matter, and both the Carpentersville fire chief and deputy chief were unavailable.
