GENEVA – The Geneva Library Board will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. today at 127 James St., where trustees are expected to approve the hiring of a temporary adviser to the director.

According to the agenda, the board is expected to take action after a closed session for personnel.

Board member Steve Andersson said that he expected the board majority would approve a contract with a person who would be an adviser to the library director, Matt Teske.

Teske was on personal leave for about a month, from mid-November to Dec. 16, but now has returned, according to his voice mail.

“This would be for general advice on the continuing management of the library,” Andersson said. “Why? We are always looking for ways to continue to improve the library.”

Andersson said he did not know how much the temporary adviser would be paid, nor how long the person was to serve.

Board President Esther Steel did not return a voice mail message seeking comment.

Last month, the board had considered, then rejected, appointing an interim director during Teske’s absence.
