Letters to the Editor

Letter: Compassionate Democrats?

To the Editor:

I find Walt Zlotow’s letter to the editor (Kane County Chronicle; Dec. 27, 2013) quite touching. Mr. Zlotow expresses deep concern for Republican primary gubernatorial candidates state Sen. Bill Brady, state Sen. Kirk Dillard and state Treasurer Dan Rutherford (a combined 57 years of Springfield service) because political newcomer Bruce Rauner is a very successful, self-made businessman who is also running for Illinois governor.

Mr. Zlotow seems to be a fervent Democrat whose blogs on a local media website clearly define his political leanings. Is his newfound concern for the opposition a heartfelt epiphany in which he has awakened to find the state of Illinois in dismal shape on several fronts and believes longtime incumbent Republican politicians are the answer to the massive problems facing this state? Has he lost faith in the current state leadership? Does the fox have the same profound empathy for the chickens in the hen house?

Mr. Zlotow’s remedy for Rauner’s lead in fundraising and spending is a classic Democratic solution – Bruce Rauner should give each of his opponents a million dollars to give them some hope.
