ST. CHARLES – The Downtown St. Charles Partnership is seeking people, businesses and organizations who want to be involved with the 15th annual St. Patrick’s Parade.
In addition to parade entries, sponsors and volunteers are needed for the March 15 event, said Scott Piner, the partnership’s marketing and development manager.
Because the parade committee does much of the pre-planning, he said, volunteers are mostly needed on the day of the parade. Depending on their age, volunteers can serve as parade pacers, banner carriers and behind-the-scenes workers leading up to the event, which marches down Main Street in St. Charles from Sixth Street to Fourth Avenue.
Volunteer forms are due Feb. 14, as are applications for parade entries.
Past entries have included bands, Irish dancers, floats, school groups and service clubs. The grand marshal will be announced later, Piner said.
Applicants also must obtain a certificate of insurance, sign off on the rules and regulations and, if applicable, pay a fee. The cost is $250 for businesses and $125 for partnership members. Nonprofits can participate for free.
The Downtown St. Charles Partnership is also accepting sponsors for the event. Interested businesses are asked to contact the partnership immediately. The partnership hopes to solidify sponsorships by Feb. 7, Piner said.
