South Elgin man, 72, dies in house fire

SOUTH ELGIN – A 72-year-old South Elgin man died in a house fire that took place Wednesday morning at 117 Beck St., South Elgin, according to a news release issued by the Kane County Coroner’s Office.

Thomas Hasier was pronounced dead at the scene, the news release stated.

An earlier news release issued by the village of South Elgin indicated that at 9:02 a.m., the South Elgin Police Department, Kane County Sheriff’s Department and South Elgin and Countryside Fire Protection District responded to the call for a house fire. The coroner’s news release stated that coroner’s deputies were called to the fire at 9:29 a.m.

An autopsy was performed, and the determination of the cause of death is pending the results of the full investigation, the coroner’s release indicated.
