Face Time with Kristin Paxinos

Aurora resident Kristin Paxinos, 39, was giving piano lessons at Da Capo Music Studio in Elburn when she answered 11 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Al Lagattolla.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in Frankfort.

Do you have any pets? Yes, a cat named Boomer.

What was your first job? I worked at the music library in college.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be an astronaut, until I realized I was bad at science.

When did you know that you wanted to be a music instructor? Probably when I was 12.

Is there a movie you would recommend? “The Great Gatsby.” It was as good as the book, and I loved the book.

Do you have a favorite charity? The Humane Society

How long have you been doing this? For 21 years

Is there a favorite song you like to play? Anything by Brahms

Do you have a favorite local restaurant? Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I played in a concert at Carnegie Hall with the then-conductor of the Chicago Symphony. It was his 50th anniversary of being a professional musician, so Carnegie Hall did a weeklong series on him. Our orchestra got to do a concert there.
