WHEATON – The Aurora Christian boys basketball team outscored St. Francis, 17-7, in the third quarter of Tuesday’s Suburban Christian Conference Blue game en route to a 58-48 win.
The Eagles led, 30-28, at halftime.
“They kind of began to pull away. We tried to get back but weren’t able to do it,” Spartans coach Bob Ward said. “They’re a tough matchup for us, and they really outplayed us in all phases tonight.
“We took a step back tonight, put it that way.”
Johnathan Harrell scored 17 points to lead Aurora Christian (11-7, 2-3 SCC Blue), while Wes Wolfe added 13. Zach Prociuk paced St. Francis (6-6, 3-2) with 15 points.
Rich East 69, Aurora Central Catholic 53: At Aurora, Sean Harreld led 2-12 ACC with 18 points.
South Elgin 47, Burlington Central 45: At South Elgin, Central was unable to overcome a 24-17 halftime deficit and a 34-29 hole after three quarters.
BC (14-3) had won three games in a row and six of its past eight entering the visit to South Elgin.
Alison Colby was the only Rockets player in double figures, finishing with 14 points. Kayla Ross (nine points) and Sam Pryor (eight) were next. Central finished 7 for 12 from the free throw line.
