Burlington Central boys basketball pulls out low-scoring game

BURLINGTON – The Burlington Central boys basketball team pulled out a 37-28 win against Woodstock on Wednesday in a game in which both teams struggled on offense.

Playing an unconventional 6 p.m. start because of finals week, the Rockets led the nonconference matchup, 18-13, at halftime and for most of the second half. Woodstock pulled ahead, 24-23, early in the fourth quarter but the Rockets’ Luke McCurdy made a 3-pointer to put Central (13-4) ahead for good.

“We just couldn’t hit layups, anything, tonight,” Central coach Brett Porto said. “The kids battled and they found a way to pull it out, and that’s really all that matters.”

Jacob Schutta scored eight points and Sean Fitzgerald added seven points for Central.
