Local author to host book signing at Sugar Path bakery

GENEVA – St. Charles author Crystal Mack will host a reading of “The Pentrals” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at The Sugar Path bakery, 315 W. State St., Geneva.

There also will be a book signing of the new young adult novel as well as a chance to win prizes and taste a new dessert made specifically for the event.

“The Pentrals” is a paranormal fantasy narrated by a shadow, the young adult title illustrates the world from a completely different point of view. Antares, a Shadow, took an oath to act without influence – to echo without opinion. But in a cruel twist of fate, she must watch as Violet, her Person, encounters a tragedy that will change both their lives forever.

When Violet starts making careless choices, Antares can no longer remain a silent silhouette. In doing so, Antares unknowingly crosses forbidden boundaries and ends up illuminating a darkness much deeper than her own.
