Streetlight shot out in St. Charles Township

ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP – A utility worker repairing a streetlight in St. Charles Township this week discovered the lamp had been shot out, according to a Kane County Sheriff’s Office report.

A township official reported the incident Tuesday.

The official told authorities the same light – which is at Essex and Park avenues – had to be replaced for the same reason last fall, police reported.

Police noted the damage might have been made by a BB gun.

Days earlier, sheriff’s authorities responded to Essex Avenue near Fox River Drive for reports of a man shooting at icicles from his bathroom window.

Sheriff’s spokesperson Lt. Pat Gengler said in an email that the incidents were not related.

“Essex stops and picks up, so it was not near the other incident,” he said.
