Batavia police reports

• Erica L. Thomas, 33, of the 400 block of Penn Avenue, Aurora, was charged Tuesday, Jan. 14, with theft. According to police reports, Thomas, an employee of Walmart, 801 N. Randall Road, removed $240 in cash from the register while checking people out. The store’s loss prevention department reported the theft, police said.

• Adam C. Benner, 22, of the 1000 block of Hanover Drive, Batavia, was charged Monday, Jan. 13, with possession of less than 2.5 grams of marijuana. 

• A spare tire and rim valued at $300 were reported stolen Monday, Jan. 13, from a vehicle parked in the 600 block of Carriage Drive.

• Mona A. Gabney, 41, of the 42W900 block of Hughes Road, Blackberry Township, was charged Sunday, Jan. 12, with aggravated assault, obstructing a police officer and resisting arrest. According to reports, police were called to the 400 block of Chestnut Street in connection with a dispute. According to reports, Gabney was intoxicated and uncooperative and was arrested after flailing her arms and legs at officers. Police said Gabney resisted arrest by attempting to pull away and refusing to be fingerprinted at the police department booking area.

• David Payrits, 18, of the 1300 block of Fagan Road, Batavia, was charged Sunday, Jan. 11, with urinating in public.

• Carmen G. Rosario, 38, of the 700 block of Cypress Drive, Aurora, was charged Sunday, Jan. 12, with retail theft at Kohl’s, 251 N. Randall Road.

• A 96-year-old resident of Michelson Health Center, who became agitated while being assisted by an employee, pushed the caregiver on Saturday, Jan. 11. According to police reports, a second caregiver was called and also pushed into a wall. Police said they took the resident to an area hospital for a psychological evaluation and the caregivers were treated on the scene for bumps, but no charges were filed.

• Two boys, ages 15 and 17, were charged with battery Friday, Jan. 10, at Batavia High School, 1201 Main St., Batavia. Police said the boys had a fight in the main hallway of the school after exchanging words in an aggressive manner. The fight was broken up by the high school resource officer.

• Police are investigating an armed robbery of a man who said he was selling pot to a woman, Friday, Jan. 10, while they were at Crown Liquors, 135 First St., Batavia. Another man used a handgun to threaten the would-be marijuana seller and stole his jacket containing his cellphone, keys and marijuana. The man and woman drove away in a black Chevrolet, police said.
