GENEVA – Northern Illinois Food Bank has planned an event, the Community Action Poverty Simulation. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Feb. 3, at Northern Illinois Food Bank’s West Suburban Center located at 273 Dearborn Court in Geneva.

The poverty simulation provides participants with the opportunity to assume the role of a low-income family member living on a limited budget. The experience lasts three hours. It includes an introduction and briefing, the actual simulation exercise, and a debriefing period in which participants and volunteer staffers share their experiences and talk about what they have learned about the lives of people in poverty. Registration is required.
