AURORA – The Aurora Christian girls basketball team avenged an early-season loss to Rosary on Tuesday, topping the visiting Royals, 56-42, in a Suburban Christian Conference crossover.

“We played them early in the year, and they pressed us and played man-to-man against us when we played them earlier, and we smoked them,” Rosary coach Jessie Wilcox said. “ … I give the Aurora Christian coach and their girls a lot of credit. They made a lot of adjustments. Instead of pressing, they dropped back into a zone and made us shoot from the outside, and we struggled.”

Alyssa Andersen scored 19 points and had six steals for Aurora Christian (12-9) while teammate Natasha Brown was credited with 16 rebounds to go with nine points.

Rosary (9-10) fell behind early and couldn’t sustain the needed energy to make a comeback, Wilcox said. Rachel Choice had 14 points and Quincy Kellett added 12 for the Royals.

Wheaton Academy 46, Guerin 32: At West Chicago, Alexandria Johnston scored eight points to lead the balanced Warriors to a home, Suburban Christian Conference win.

IC Catholic Prep 59, Aurora Central Catholic 43: At Elmhurst, Aurora Central Catholic (9-9) dropped the rescheduled SCC crossover game, which was scheduled for Jan. 14 but moved to Monday.

Maggie O’Brien scored nine points for the Chargers (9-9).
