Face Time with Iryna Tsyhan

St. Charles resident Iryna Tsyhan, 29, was at her writing class in the intensive English program at Elgin Community College when she answered 11 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.  

Where did you grow up? Lviv, Ukraine. I came here two years ago.

Pets? A Chihuahua named Buck.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Sandra Bullock

First job? As a doctor in a hospital. I am an OB-GYN.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A doctor, always a doctor. And I became that.

A movie you’d recommend? “The Blind Side” and “The Terminal”

Do you speak another language? Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, German, and I’m learning English. 

Favorite charity? St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church in Lviv, and St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Bloomingdale

What game show would you be on? “Dancing with the Stars”

Favorite local restaurant? Olive Garden in St. Charles

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? My mother said I could be a doctor because I’m cold like a fish. Also, I met Ihor Malysh in 2001. He gave our school a computer class, and I gave him a bouquet of flowers.
