GENEVA – Geneva is seeking residents to fill vacancies on several volunteer boards, according to a city news release.

The Plan Commission, Economic Development Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, Strategic Plan Advisory Committee and Mental Health Board all have openings.

An application and information about each board is available at www.geneva.il.us. Click on the “City Government” tab and then select “Boards & Commissions” from the drop-down menu.

Along with the application, candidates should submit a letter of interest to Mayor Kevin Burns, Geneva City Hall, 22 S. First St., Geneva, IL 60134. The envelope should indicate which board the applicant is applying to.

Candidates must be a legal U.S. citizen; have lived in Geneva for at least one year; be registered to vote; have no felony convictions; and be current on taxes and payments to the city.

Burns will review the applications and bring his nominations to the City Council for a formal vote.

For the Economic Development Commission, preference will be given to candidates from the industrial sector or from a major employer. Applicants must fill out the application on the EDC webpage.
