Girls basketball playoff seeds released

The IHSA on Thursday released the seeds for the Class 4A Addison Trail Girls Basketball Sectional, which includes each of the four Tri-Cities schools.

Batavia (No. 3) and Geneva (No. 5) are near the top of the 21-team sectional, with St. Charles North (No. 9) and St. Charles East (No. 11) next. Batavia is one of four regional hosts within the sectional; pairings are set to be released at 4 p.m. today, and play begins Feb. 17.

In Class 3A, Kaneland is part of the five-team Plano Regional, while Aurora Central Catholic, Rosary and top-seeded Burlington Central help are in the six-team ACC Regional.

Both regionals are part of the Belvidere Sectional. St. Francis, a regional host, and Wheaton Academy are part of the Glenbard South Sectional.

Aurora Christian, the Chronicle area’s lone 2A team, is the second seed in the Ottawa Marquette Regional.

The Eagles begin postseason play against the host Crusaders in a regional semifinal at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
