Prep roundup: Geneva girls basketball moves into a first-place tie after win

ELGIN – The Geneva girls basketball moved into a first-place tie with Batavia in the Upstate Eight Conference River on Thursday, crushing Elgin, 64-26.

Grace Loberg and Morgan Seberger had 12 points each and MaKayla Koehn added 11 for the Vikings.

Geneva (18-5, 9-2 UEC River) can clinch at least a share of the conference title with a win Saturday at St. Charles North.

Kaneland 74, Morris 67: At Morris, Kelly Wallner scored 15 points and had seven rebounds to lift Kaneland (10-13, 3-4 Northern Illinois Big 12 East). Caroline Heimerdinger had a team-high 16 points for the Knights, who salted the game away with 14 free throws in the fourth quarter.
