Prep roundup: Kaneland girls basketball beats Yorkville

MAPLE PARK – The Kaneland girls basketball team defeated Yorkville, 51-41, on Monday, behind 18 points and six rebounds from Kelly Wallner.

Amber Winquist Bailey had 11 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists for the Knights (12-13, 4-4 Northern Illinois Big 12 East).

Kaneland rallied from a 26-23 halftime deficit, going on a 22-1 run bridging the third and fourth quarters.

Warrior’s Ruggles drops 33 in win over ACC

AURORA – Josh Ruggles scored 33 points on 9-of-10 shooting from 3-point land Monday to lead the Wheaton Academy boys basketball team past Aurora Central Catholic, 62-42, in Suburban Christian Conference Blue play.

Ruggles’ lone miss from 3-point land was a buzzer-beating fadeaway attempt that rimmed out as the Warriors swept the regular season series.

Mooseheart girls hoops advances in regionals

HINCKLEY – The Mooseheart girls basketball team won an IHSA Class 1A regional quarterfinal on Monday at Hinckley-Big Rock, defeating Faith Lutheran, 38-26.

The Rambers advance to face the host Royals at 6 p.m. today.
