SUGAR GROVE – An Aurora man is expected in Kane County court this month on charges that he battered a pregnant woman in Sugar Grove.

Paul M. Gonzalez, 23, of the 2000 block of West Illinois Avenue, was charged Tuesday with two counts of aggravated battery of a pregnant person and two counts of domestic battery.

According to a Kane County sheriff report, Gonzalez and the woman were arguing about money before he threw a cellphone at her. He also hit her in the face, brought her down to the floor, hit her repeatedly and kicked her in the abdomen, police reported, noting the incident happened in the 0-100 block of Cedar Gate Circle.

The woman – who was five months pregnant – was hospitalized, according to the report.

Gonzalez is expected in court Feb. 26 for a status hearing.
