South Elgin resident Suzie Harrod, 45, was volunteering at LivingWell Cancer Resource Center in Geneva when she answered 11 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.

Where did you grow up? Batavia. I graduated from Batavia High School with the class of 1987.

Pets? Two bull terriers named Nickel and Dexter.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Drew Barrymore.

First job? Cleaning my dad’s foundry office.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a police officer, but my parents discouraged me. It was the 1980s, but they were old-fashioned. I became a nurse instead.

A movie you’d recommend? “The Last of the Mohicans.”

Favorite charity? LivingWell Cancer Resource Center in Geneva.

Do you speak another language? Spanish.

What game show would you be on? “The Newlywed Game.”

Favorite local restaurant? Francesca’s by the River in St. Charles.

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I saved someone from drowning about 15 years ago. It was a work party at a pool, and a little boy was having trouble at one end of the pool.
