Editor’s Notebook: Readers invited to watch spelling bee
The Kane County Regional Spelling Bee will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, and readers are invited to watch the action – either at the venue where the bee is taking place or from the comfort of their own home.
Participants in this year’s bee are Ayumu Seiya of St. Charles, Jared Horsfall of North Aurora, Grace Gerardi of Batavia, Charline Rivera of Montgomery, Minh Nguyen of Gilberts, Joe Ott of South Elgin, Anika Patel of Gilberts and Shalakha Bonthu of West Dundee.
The bee will take place at Fox Valley Repertory within Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St., St Charles. Area residents are invited to attend the bee free of charge, or they can watch the bee live from the Kane County Chronicle website at www.kcchronicle.com/webcast.
The winner of the Kane County Regional Spelling Bee will go on to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
Good luck to all of our local participants!

Time again for some Kane County Chronicle reader feedback.
The following are responses that some of our columnists received on their latest pieces of writing.
To “River Town Chronicles” columnist Rick Holinger, in response to his piece “91 ways to feed your lover,” which ran in the Feb. 28 edition of the Chronicle: “I chuckled when I read your article and loved the idea you had of putting together a list of dinner suggestions. (Although your wife is right, NOT a good birthday gift.),” wrote reader Cathy Dremel in an email.
“As a wife and mom who struggles every weekend to put together a list of ideas for dinner during the upcoming week, I would love having a list of suggestions. Although I will let you in on a secret that you may already know after many years of marriage – appreciation and enthusiasm for what we cook is as valuable as the dinner suggestions themselves. ... Thanks for making me smile.”
And “Good Natured” columnist Pam Otto and I received the following email from reader Peter Booth of Wayne: “Thank you for the bird feeding article. ... It was both educational and interesting.
Articles like this, as well as the very reliable on-time morning delivery service, are why we continue to be a loyal subscriber to the KCC. Keep up the great work!”
Thanks to Peter and our Cathy for their feedback.
Comments and suggestions can be sent to us anytime using the contact information at the end of this column.
